LUKE SANDOE 1989-2020
by John Plummer
The bodybuilding world is mourning the sudden death of Luke Sandoe, who was the 2016 UKBFF overall British champion.
Luke had one of the best British physiques this century and, at just 30 years old, appeared to be on the verge of great things, which makes today's news even more shocking.
He was a popular national champion in 2016, winning the super-heavyweights and then defeating the other weight class winners, who included James Watts and David Henderson, for the overall title.
For years previously Luke had been touted as the next big thing because of his size and structure but he struggled to peak on show day.
He was sixth in the super-heavyweights at the 2015 British finals so his triumph after adversity the following year was particularly sweet.
Since then the former drummer, who was a father, had built a worldwide reputation for the quality of his physique. He had 213,000 followers on Instagram.
Farewell, Luke. You were a great champion and a lovely guy who will be sorely missed. Deepest condolences from everyone at the UKBFF to your family.
