BRIGHTON SET TO HOST SOUTH COAST SPECTACULAR
by John Plummer
The South Coast Championships on Sunday is set to be a blockbuster with all 250 tickets available before the event already sold.
Entries are also flooding in, with almost 100 competitors already registered for the contest, which is being staged at the Hilton Brighton Metropole for the first time.
This is the first qualifying event of the year for October's British Championships and promoter Tony Naddeo has been working hard to put on a seafront spectacular in sunny Brighton.
The Natural Muscle Company is offering a sponsorship deal, including £2,000 worth of supplements, in the run-up to the British Championships to the winners of men's physique and bikini fitness.
Besides the usual bodybuilding and fitness classes, there will be a Top Model competition in which at least two winners will be awarded a year's modelling contract with A01 Sports Wear, which includes apparel worth £2,000. The Top Model winners will also have their physiques captured for posterity by artist Anthony Freeman.
Four overall winners from the various classes will be crowned, with the bodybuilding winners featured in The Beef magazine.
IFBB Elite Pro Ade Bishop, who is one week out from competing in women's physique at the $90,000 Arnold Classic Africa, will be guest posing. Ade is in wicked condition.
“I'm looking forward to welcoming everyone to Brighton and putting on a memorable show,” says Tony.
Registration is at 9am and the competition starts at 1pm with the bodybuilding classes, followed by bikini fitness, men's physique and finally the Top Model contest, in which competitors will wear smart gym wear (discreet labelling only).
UKBFF members competing in the traditional classes can enter the model event for just £10.
Anyone wanting to compete can enter on the day and another batch of spectator tickets will be available on the door.
Brighton will be buzzing on Sunday. Thousands of Manchester City fans will be in town, hoping to see their team win the Premier League against Brighton.
Limited parking is available on a first come, first served basis at the Hilton Metropole. If you use the code ZCPIL when you leave you will get the special rate of £10 for the day.
