About UKBFF

The United Kingdom Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (UKBFF) is affiliated to the biggest Body Building federation in the world - the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders), founded in 1946. The I.F.B.B. is the fifth largest independent sports federation in the world. It is the only bodybuilding federation recognised by more than 100 National Olympic Committees and Governements. The U.K.B.F.F. organises qualifying shows throughout the country and concludes these competitions with the yearly UK Championships - probably the most prestigious show in Britain today.

At the UK Championships, we have 2 weight classes for Physique Women, and 4 weight classes for Physique Men. Other classes are: Junior Men under 21 years of age, Senior Men over 40 years of age and over 50 years of age, Intermediate Men under and over 80kg, First Timers, BodyFitness Women, and the Ladies Fitness class.

The winners of the men's weight classes each receive the UK Class Title and compete against each other for the overall UK Championship title and the right to apply for a pro-card.

On the international front, we send teams to the European Championships and the World Championships. (All international amateur competitions are drug tested.) Teams are selected by the UKBFF Executive Members and Judges and are drug tested at these selections. A competitor finishing in the top 3 in the I.F.B.B. Amateur European Championships, or in the top 6 in the I.F.B.B. Amateur World Championships can apply to the U.K.B.F.F. Executive Committee for Pro-status. Besides winning the Overall UK Title at the UK finals, and winning the Euro Elite Champions Tour, this is the only other way to become a professional. If a competitor is representing the U.K. abroad, all expenses are paid for by the Federation.
